When used in mass media photography often contributes to influencing the way people think. A campaign strategy that includes strong visual storytelling through the use of photography, can influence policy. In this way photography can play a key role in social change. 

In this course, we first look at how the visual language of photography can be used and how it has been used in history to represent ideas that have led to changing the way people think. 

In the second part of this course basic techniques for using photography to communicate ideas are explained. 

In the last section the study club format is set out as way to continue to practice photography for social change. In sum, this course covers how to take better photographs, how to use photographs strategically and how to engage in a photo club.
